Pompom pick-up
Fine-tune their fine motor skills while you get a few minutes to check your shirt isn't on inside out today.
Things you'll need
- Coloured craft pompoms
- Tongs
- A selection of coloured cups or containers
What to do
- Pile the pompoms in front of your bubsy
- Hand over the tongs and see how they go
Yes it's great for their fine motor control but let's face it, we don't mind if they toss the tongs aside and grab pompoms by the handful. It's all good, as long as you get a little shut-eye on the couch.
Ideas for further play
- Offer different tools for picking up the pompoms, like a ladle, measuring cups or large kid-safe tweezers
- Try replacing the pompoms with large buttons or other kid-safe objects
Including older siblings
- Send your older kiddo outside to collect some small sticks, leaves or whatever takes their fancy
- Put out some paper and glue
- Encourage your big kid to stick their natural elments and pompoms onto a piece of paper, creating a nature-inspired artwork
